Instant Downloadable Tutorial - Kongoh Gaeshi - Reverse Spiral or Zig Zag Braid" - 12 pages - Fiber & Disk
$ 14.99
What is Kongoh Gaeshi (as opposed to Kongoh Gumi)? I looked up the definition of Gaeshi and found “counter” and “reversal”. When the “Z” Spiral (Kongoh Gumi) and “S” Spiral (Kongoh Gumi) are combined, they are essentially reversed or counter to each other, hence the name Kongoh Gaeshi! My interpretation.
In this 14-page tutorial:
- You will learn how to braid a 16 strand Reverse Spiral or Zig Zag Braid (you should know the Kongoh Gumi or Round braid).
- You will learn about "Z" Spiral and "S" Spiral braid structures.
- You will learn how to transition from "Z" Spiral to "S" Spiral to create a Reverse Spiral or Zig Zag braid.
- This tutorial explains the difference between rotating your disk Clockwise (CW) or Counter-Clockwise (CCW) and moving your elements CW or CWW. These are two different things that often get confused.
-Tutorial provides valuable information about "reading your braid"
Once you have a command of this braid, you will be ready to add it to your repertoire of braids.
Since this is a Tutorial only, it is up to the maker to choose their own components. Following are some of the braiding fibers and tools I recommend:
Kumihimo Foam Disk
Plastic Bobbins
Nylon Satin Cord
Embroidery Floss
Perle Cotton
Paton's Grace (or similar)
